Remarkable Rocks
Kangaroo Island
South Australia

Over the New Year, I had the great opportunity to spend a long weekend shooting in Kangaroo Island with Keith & Amy from Hong Kong who were on a Dulux sponsored trip to photograph wallpapers. This was one of the sites we visited , the iconic red granite rocks of Flinders Chase National Park entitled the Remarkable Rocks. The rocks proper were behind me and are often photographed so I went for something different that morning. The rocks really are that red! Especially with the right lighting. Shot with 3 stop reverse GND and 2 stop ND.

Welcome, well deserved. :D

I like the foreground but I feel that the exposure might have been a little to short in order for the streamline effect of the clouds to really kick in; maybe a second exposure with a lower angle to get more angular speed would've been a good idea. Still great shot. :)

thanks for the critique - slightly denser ND would have been helpful for that I agree but the lower angle would have eliminated the midground (green) and that wasn't the compo I was after

Hm, maybe paning the camera a little upward and combining the two shots would've worked even better now that I think about it. Btw. hope to see more from the island, can't remember ever seeing pictures of that place. :)

great shot dude! glad you choose an "unusual" compostion for this scenery. I googled those rocks due to the fact that I am not familiar with them, and I can tell you that such a calm and balanced composition wouldn't be easy to accomplish if you turn around and choose the "Remarkable Rocks" as central element for your comp. Anyway, I really like the mood the shot's presenting!

thanks :) I did take lots of shots of the rocks themselves too but somehow, I think I like the ones without them ironically lol
