Iceland

This is an image which I have re-edited following the 2009 trip to Iceland. It's always an interesting exercise to revisit old favourites and update the 'look' of the image to current perceptions. I think one's pereceptions of scenes also changes depending on the tools you know you possess in order to give images their final result. This was taken on a day with dramatic shifting light but somehow, back in 2009, the original edit didn't do it justice. I hope this version does!

The colors and lighting in this are just breathtaking. The lines, both from geography and the light, make this static scene look very dynamic. I appreciate the framing and the offset location of the church (assuming it is such). Magnificent capture!

Though I don’t know how it applies to photography specifically, I know my growing writing skills have allowed me to capture things in a light I couldn’t before. I’ve never really tried rewriting old work, though, to see if I can capture something I’ve written before in a more comprehensive way. I have no idea if that made any sense at all. My apologies if not!

certainly made sense - which is why I always keep the archives at hand ;)

Excellent plan. :) My dad's pretty new to photography and I know he's thoroughly enjoying playing with his photos in Picassa (I think that's what it's called). I should probably make sure he's keeping the originals...

I find myself wondering if and how long you might have waited for the light to envelope the church so perfectly. Whether you waited or not, perfect.

we did wait for this light to happen but with the quickly moving cloud, we didn't have to wait longer than about 10 minutes :)
