Striped and Stripped

Hengifoss, Iceland

Iceland's third highest falls and a beauty at that. Located in East Iceland at the base of Lagarfljot, the hike up here can be rough (including crossing small rivers) but very very worth it to see this waterfall from its base. It was a rainy day when I was there hence no details in the sky, but the most characteristic thing I found about the falls were the red stripes of basalt across its face.
