The Great Stone Chute by Dee-T The Great Stone Chute by Dee-T
Coire Lagan
Isle of Skye
Scotland

This image was taken just at sunset at the beautiful loch in Coire Lagan in the south of Skye. We stayed two nights at Glenbrittle SYHA. This walk starts from the nearby Glenbrittle house and takes about two hours to get to the loch. Once there, very steep stone scree slopes head up on both sides. On the right hand side of this image is the so-called great stone chute and at its peak, Sgurr Alasdair of the Black Cuillins. I had actually scrambled 3/4 of the way up when I realised that the sun was shimmering across me so instead of heading up, I skidded down the slopes back down to the lake to take this shot. It was one of those occasions where 10mm was not wide enough as the mountains were almost vertically above us here.

I hate you so much for taking this photo. It's so good. I can't believe the clarity. The ability to see under the water, the color in the reflection. Any tricks or tips used in this? Good god this is awesome.

I have a standard workflow for landscapes (aside the technicalities of actually taking the shot to make it usable)
it's here on our blog site: [link]

Amazing shot and colors. At first I thought it was Arizona or New Mexico, USA. But couldn't recognize any lake like that. :D

This is a gorgeous shot! Definitely a lot of beautiful contrast between the land and water. :) How many shots did you take?

if you mean for this shot? single shot with some filter stacking - if you're talking about Scotland - about 2000 lol

Nice... I usually take several and none are good hahaha

I wanted to visit Scotland while I was studying in Paris but didn't find the time. What part of the year did you go?

we visited there from mid September to early October - probably a little early as we wanted to see more turning of leaves

Fantastic light mate.. Fell in love with this spot when we went up Alisdair a while back.. this is where our photos ended though, clouds were covering the peaks and the camera went away as we ascended the chute. We didnt see the peaks fully , without cloud in our 5 days there so you were very lucky :D I wouldnt have thought the light would fall here, must make an evening trip next time, thanks for inspiring  and lovely shot!
